The Homeland Security Advisory System

The Homeland Security Advisory System is used to advise the public of changes in the threat level for possible terrorist attacks.

The color-coded system indicates probability of a terrorist attack:

  • Green = Low
  • Blue = Guarded
  • Yellow = Elevated
  • Orange = High
  • Red = Severe

Also, the advisories are targeted for geographic regions and/or sectors such as mass transit, aviation, etc.
