What is the IRIS Program? 5/23/2010
The Idaho IRIS program, or Idaho’s Immunization Reminder Information System, is a statewide, voluntary reminder system to help patients and doctors keep track of immunization records. Whatever immunizations you need, from newborn immunizations to immunizations for travel or vacation, the IRIS program helps you keep track of what immunizations you have or have not had. The registry is completely confidential and secure. Information can only be accessed by enrolled health care providers, schools, or child care providers.
How does the IRIS Program help?
Regardless of where you move within Idaho, your health care provider or health district office can retrieve your immunization records. The IRIS program helps reduce the chance of having the wrong immunizations given due to incomplete immunization records and also helps you to keep track of when immunizations are due. You can prevent unnecessary doctor’s office visits and bills by having current immunization records.
